What is the Balance of Nature?
Balance of Nature is basically a supplement that aims to give you the required nutrition that you may be lacking from the modern diet.
It was founded in 1997 by Dr. Douglas Howard with the idea of providing affordable nutrition to all. I won’t be discussing the backstory of Mr. Howard here, but he saw how people lack proper treatment, and he decided he wanted to do something about this. His idea was to pack all the nutrients that we may obtain from a plant-based diet into easy and lightweight supplements.
Through the official website of Balance of Nature (1), we observed that it has 3 products, which we intend to discuss in brief here. Along with the good, the bad, and the ugly, we also discuss the balance of nature cost.Â
Balance of Nature Reviews of its 3 Products

How the Balance of Nature Supplements are made?
I am sure you have this question: How all that is combined into the form of a capsule and powder? Well, the answer to that is Lyophilization.
Lyophilization (2) or freeze drying is the process used by Balance of Nature. This is not a new process, but I will explain it in short. In this, water is removed from the product (fruits and vegetables in this case) and then it is frozen and kept in the vacuum. Then that produce is ground into fine powder.
This powder is further filled in capsules for storage and consumption.
Balance of Nature fruit and vegetable supplements claim that they don’t add any preservatives or synthetics. Hence, according to them, you are eating fruits and veggies in the form of powder.
How much do you need?
According to the reviews of the balance of nature fruit and vegetable supplements, we need 3 capsules of fruits, 3 capsules of veggies, and 2 scoops of fiber and spice daily. 1 pack of fruits/veggies contains 90 capsules, so it’s like if you buy 1 pack, then it’s for 1 month for 1 individual.
How to consume Balance of Nature?
There are multiple ways to consume Balance of Nature fruit and vegetable supplements. The capsules can be taken directly with water, along with the meal. The powder in the capsule can be mixed with water easily as well. I won’t recommend mixing it with milk because both fruits and veggies contain certain ingredients that don’t go well with milk.
Fiber and spice are water-soluble. Can be sprinkled over salads and fruits.
What's in each bottle of Balance of Nature?
We have already learned what fruits and vegetables are used in Balance of Nature, but still, we need to understand what’s on the label of these bottles and what their nutritional value is, through the reviews of Balance of Nature fruit and vegetable supplements.Â
As suggested by the balance of nature, we may need 3 capsules (total 6) of each, so the serving is mentioned accordingly on the bottle.
1 serving (3 capsules) of fruits contains 10 calories (in kJ) and 2 g of carbohydrates. Then fruits are categorized into 3 categories, maintain blend, protect blend, and repair blend. Similarly, for Veggies, it contains 5 calories (in kJ) and 1 g of carbohydrates. This again is categorized into 3 categories.
Fiber and spice may contain 30 servings (400 g of pack), and the serving size is 2 scoops (daily). It has more info on its bottle like it contains, 50 kJ calories, total fat 1 g, Total carbs 9 g, dietary fiber 8 g, iron .9 mg, and calcium 40 mg. This again is categorized into 2 categories, balanced whole fiber blend and maintain/repair spice blend.
Another thing that is mentioned on the bottle is, that Balance of Nature is gluten-free, additive-free, which means it contains no chemicals, or synthetics and is Non-GMO. GMO means genetically modified organisms. This means it contains everything natural and real. That makes it vegan-friendly.
Balance of Nature Cost and Where to buy Balance of Nature?
The best way to buy it is from the official website of Balance of Nature. The cost of Balance of Nature Fruits and veggies is $70. Although these 2 are inseparable, means you cannot buy them separately, like if you want fruits only, then there’s no option.Â
With a subscription, Balance of Nature will cost around $95. Here $25 is their one-time fee for a subscription, which means next time you will get it in $70, and automatically $70 will be deducted from your bank account.
For a time purchase, the same thing will be $90.
Then if you want fiber and spice, the cost of Balance of Nature will be $50+$25 for a subscription and for one time it will be $70.
If you want everything together, like all 3 products together, then the Balance of Nature cost will be $110, and don’t forget the subscription charges. One-time buyers will get it at $160.

Reviews of Balance of Nature- The Good
First, I will talk about the good things, and positive reviews about the Balance of nature, because I cannot start talking about negative things directly.
1: I like the idea of getting the goodness of fruits and vegetables from the 2 capsules and the powder itself. This is indeed an excellent idea for those who cannot get sufficient nutrition from their diet.
People are always running, they may not have time to cook and eat a proper meal, so for such people, this could be a great idea. It could be carried anywhere and as it provides sufficient nutrition, people may not need to look out for other ways.
Their website gives information about why a plant-based diet is helpful and this gives us a better picture of why we need to include more plant-based food in our diets. This also works in the favor of the product because it tells the consumer why they need plant-based supplements.
This supplement could also be a great idea for those who are reluctant to eat fruits and vegetables. You can just cleverly add this to their water, and they will get sufficient vitamins and minerals.
2: Another thing is taste, The Balance of nature-fruits smells and tastes like actual fruit and veggie ones which is acceptable as well, so while having these, you may not feel that you are having a tablet for some serious ailment.
3: Balance of nature provides a terrific variety of fruits, vegetables, and spices. Fruits are low in fat and sodium and don’t contain any cholesterol.
Potassium in bananas, oranges, spinach, and sweet potato, which are actual ingredients of fruits and veggies, helps in keeping the blood pressure in check.
The dietary fiber present in fiber and spice helps in keeping the cholesterol in check. And also keeps the digestive system healthy.
Red food present in the balance of nature like Raspberries, tomatoes, grapefruit, strawberries, and carrots are great sources of Vitamin A and C and also provide a great balance of anti-oxidants.
Similarly, green food like spinach, zucchini, cabbage, kale, wheatgrass, etc. Are good source of Vitamin K. These also supports vision health and strong bones.
Having all these fruits and vegetables daily is very difficult, but Balance of Nature packed all the phytonutrients into 2 bottles, making it convenient and efficient.
Spices like cinnamon, turmeric, fenugreek, garlic, nutmeg, and cardamom, which are present in fiber and spice are actually a great source of antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, help boost immunity, and even help in controlling blood sugar levels.
Eating these spices may not be possible daily, but this powdered form of fiber and spice is easy to consume and supports overall health (3).
4: The trust of 26 years is a huge achievement. For a supplement provider, staying in the market for 26 years is a great thing.
5: Balance of nature also received overall good reviews from the customers. There are very few people who have any complaints about the product itself. Some even claimed that the Balance of nature helped them sleep better and increased their efficiency. However, those claims require evidence.
Reviews of Balance of Nature - The Bad
Talking about the good things about any product may be a good thing, but ignoring the bad is not apposite. You will read and watch 100s of content, and you will always hear positive things about certain products, but we cannot overlook the negative side of the product.
1: The balance of nature’s capsules is huge. Like they are telling us to eat 6 of them daily, but it’s a bit difficult to gulp down 6 tablets. It could be difficult to give to seniors and children due to the size.
They could have made smaller capsules so that these become more convenient for different ages.
2: Then the taste of fiber and spice may not be according to everyone’s liking, it’s not properly soluble in water. This may not be for all due to the strong taste.
3: There should have been appropriate information on how much of these capsules are needed for the elderly, children, women, and men. This may sound discriminating, but women and men have different needs. I’ve seen several companies that make separate supplements for men and women. Even information like whether it’s safe for pregnant women or not is not provided.
The bottle lacks crucial info about vitamins and minerals. I mean, that’s why we are having it anyway, but these are not mentioned anywhere on the bottle. For example, we need 75-90 mg of vitamin C per day (4) (different for women and men).
I believe we need such info on the bottle that tells how much this specific product helps us to reach that need. Also, the capsules should be marked if it’s safe for children and pregnant women and how much is recommended according to different ages as nutrient needs vary according to age.
4: As you have read above, the bottles do not give sufficient information about what or how much we are consuming. There’s no information about how many apples or mango, 1 bottle may contain.
The exact amount of ingredients is a must because this keeps the consumer in the dark. Maintaining a blend does not give a clear picture of how much of what we are consuming. It grouped fruits and veggies, but we don’t know the quantity or nutrients in the bottle.
Not to forget it has soy that may cause allergies to some. It has estrogenic ingredients (due to soy), that can cause health issues like thyroid issues, male infertility, and even cancer. Again, we don’t know the quantity of soy, so we cannot say for sure how much we are consuming.
5: Balance of Nature is very pricey (more expensive than buying real fruits and vegetables). If we compare it with other brands (which I won’t be naming here), it’s exorbitant. For example, rival brands are giving similar supplements at much cheaper prices. This is an issue because Dr. Howard’s idea is to provide cheap and affordable nutrition for all, but clearly, other much cheaper options are available.
Also, there’s no option to buy fruits and veggies individually. The balance of nature made it compulsory to buy both of their products together.
If there was the option of buying it individually and if there was price relaxation, then it could have been more pocket-friendly for different groups, especially students or office goers who have less time to cook a proper meal.
6: The thing I found most dubious in the reviews of balance of nature fruit and vegetable supplements is how come fruits and veggies taste and smell so fresh if the company claims that they haven’t added any chemicals or additives. And why do the fruits and veggies have red and green colors specifically? The company claims that nothing artificial is added, but how come specific colors are obtained? That’s a point to ponder.
7: The major thing that is missing is there’s no proper result or lab analysis has been provided by the company. They claim to be third-party tested, but who is that? There’s definitely a need for certification or evidence.
The company is keeping in the dark about how they are making it. Surely they have shared the process, but we don’t know for sure from where fruits and veggies are obtained or how hygienic this whole process is.
When there is certification or proper research backing a certain product, it automatically builds trust. The company is surely old and has been working since 1997, but still, concrete evidence is needed that shows how a specific thing is made.
8: Last but not least, Fruits and vegetables used in this may not be organic. Reason, according to USDA (5) those who are registered under their program, can be allowed to label their product as organic in the USA. I am not saying the Balance of nature claims to be organic (at least not directly), but this point is worth considering.
They should clarify from where they obtain the fruits and veggies, for how long those are kept before the process, and how freshness is ensured.
Reviews of Balance of Nature-The Ugly
The reviews of the balance of nature suggested that it has been in troubled waters over time due to the claims they’ve made.
1: Like in 2019 Balance of Nature has received a warning from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because they claimed that their supplement could fix an itchy or sore throat. However, there’s no scientific research behind this claim.
2: They also claimed that it can cure allergies and people may not need asthma inhalers after regular use of products of the balance of nature. With fiber and spices, they claimed that it can cure/treat diabetes, cholesterol, and arthritis. However, the FDA demands evidence from the balance of nature regarding this.
Balance of Nature do have absurd reviews about cancer relief and more, but those have no research backing it.
3: Then again around 2020, The National Advertising Division (NAD) raised issues against uncorroborated claims made by Balance of Nature about treating coronavirus. They even tried to consider the balance of nature under their own self-regulatory process, but they never received any response from the balance of nature. To which NAD further complained to the Federal Trade Commission. However, FTC didn’t raise an issue towards this (I would like to share the response from FTC in the end for readers viewing).
To this or maybe something else, Balance of Nature has made changes on their website, and they now highlighted that Balance of Nature does not claim to cure or treat any disease.
4: When I went deep into the reviews of Balance of nature fruit and vegetable supplements, it also has some complaints (6) registered against it at the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Balance of Nature has received a D+ rating on BBB, that rating is based on how well a company interacts with its customers. Moreover, Balance of Nature is not BBB accredited, this is done by building trust and integrity, which is not done by Balance of Nature.
The complaints registered on BBB about the Balance of nature are mostly about the subscription and the service and not about the quality of the product.
Conclusion
Balance of nature is a great idea for those who are looking for something extra along with their meal. It is repeated multiple times on the website of Balance of Nature that it’s not a meal replacement. A supplement should be taken if the diet is not fulfilling the dietary needs.
Balance of nature can do much better if they keep things transparent. Certain government-based agencies need to certify this product. More evidence is needed rather than testimonies and balance of nature reviews. I won’t be saying Balance of nature is bogus, but they need to authenticate their claims.
If you are consuming this product and seeing no harmful reaction, then you can continue with it. One good way to find out if you need it or not is getting blood tested, which can tell you if you need anything extra outside your diet or not.
Then again, consume any supplement if your doctor recommends you. Our main focus should always be on eating fresh and homemade for optimum health.
Stay healthy!
